Is PhenQ the Best Supplement For Weight Loss?

What I can say with certainty is that PhenQ is not the best supplement that one can use to aid weight loss. I can say that it is overpriced, that it has a bigger price than it should than it deserves and that it underperforms.

The claims that are made on the official website are unfounded, due to a complete lack of clinical evidence or FDA evaluation. However, normally the purpose of claims should be to tell the user how the product performs and what benefits you can expect but these claims are there to make the product look good and get your attention, not to speak the truth about the product.

This is, however, not to say that it’s a bad product, it just depends on your expectations. In terms of benefits and how much you pay, though, I would not recommend it.

It has caffeine, alpha lipoic acid, l-cysteine, piperine, capsicum and other ingredients which can help with reducing oxidation of cells and offering immune support but more importantly since it’s a weight loss supplement, these ingredients offer modest support to thermogenesis and energy metabolism.

You burn a few more calories, get a little bit more energy, your body generates a little bit more heat and this adds up to the progress that you should already be making through, of course, dieting and exercising regularly. If you are not dieting, I would imagine that this product would be a complete waste of money.

Since it is overpriced, that still stands more or less, but there is no way for this product or any other for that matter, to compensate for an unhealthy diet which translated into an excessive caloric intake and sedentarism.

PhenQ Ingredients:

  • L-carnitine fumarate 150 milligrams
  • caffeine anhydrous 142.5 milligrams
  • a-lacy reset 25 milligrams
  • Nopal 20 milligrams
  • capsicum extract 8 milligrams
  • niacin powder 4.5 milligrams
  • piperine extract 3 milligrams
  • chromium picolinate 10 micrograms.

The doses are, well, decent I suppose. A bit small for my liking, though.
The A-lacy reset is also not clinically tested or proven to work and if you’re wondering, it is alpha lipoic acid and cysteine combined together.

These ingredients do have proof of working for the purpose of losing weight, however according to scientific research, the minimum dose for alpha lipoic acid is 300 mg and for cysteine, well, it can go up to 1 gram, 2 grams, depending on the individual. On PhenQ’s label, it states that it has 25 milligrams of A-lacy reset. Obviously, the quantity is much too small.

When to take your bodybuilding supplements depending on your body type?

Are you tired of hard training and not seeing results? Use exercises and supplements and develop your muscle mass faster than any other beginner in the fitness room. But how much muscles you’ll gain also depends on what type of body you have, on your diet, and also on what supplements you take and when you take them. So, when to take your bodybuilding supplements?

Know your body.

All people can be classified into 3 different body types. Body type is determined by certain specific features:

  • Ectomorphs – These are characterized by narrow hips and narrow joints. They have a thin body with long limbs. These are the thin guys you see on the street. Those in this category have tight shoulders and a flat chest. They also do not have weight gaining problems. They can eat anything without much fattening. Also, they are called hard-gainers in gym rooms because they don’t build muscles easy.
  • Endomorphs – They are characterized by wider hips. They are shorter, have medium-sized arms and are usually thicker, especially in the abdomen area. They gain weight very easily, but it’s hard to lose it.
  • Mesomorphs – They have an athletic inclination, having the naturally V-shaped trunk, with wider shoulders and emerging chest. Athletes generally fall into this category. They have defined muscles, small wrists and gains weight and muscle mass easier than others.

Depending on which type of body you have, it is indicated to follow some basic tips on how to build muscles.

On short:

  • The ectomorphs need to eat a lot and take lots of bodybuilding supplements.
  • The endomorphs should be concerned about following a balanced diet and taking fat burning bodybuilding supplements in order to get rid of the extra fat and replace it with muscle mass.
  • The mesomorphs doesn’t always need bodybuilding supplement since their body type is ideal for bodybuilding (or any other sport) and responds very well to training. They should only opt for supplementation when their goals are really high or when deficiencies occur.

What supplements and when to take your bodybuilding supplements?

I’ve already depicted the 3 types of bodies, so I’ll continue in the same direction.

As I’ve already told you, people who fall into this category should eat a lot and take lots of supplements to grow muscles. They shouldn’t be concerned about what they eat but should be concerned about how much they eat.

Thanks to their body type, they can eat anything without getting too much fat but eating much is mandatory for them to build muscles.

Also, bodybuilding supplements are somehow mandatory for the ectomorphs who want to grow muscle mass. They must focus on pre-workout supplements, especially for strength during training, and during the rest of the day they should focus on supplements which are designed to increase their appetite. Among the best supplements for them are:

  • Steroids or steroids-like supplements
  • Proteins
  • Creatine
  • BCAA
  • Multivitamins

Steroids or steroids-like supplements are recommended for ectomorphs to give them a boost of testosterone which is responsible for more power, strength, and faster muscle growth.

On how and when to take steroids, I’ve already discussed in another article: Which steroids are good for muscle growth.

Proteins are needed by ectomorphs to help them achieving an increased blood flow and more strength and force during workout sessions, which will help them do more repetitions with heavier weights.

Whey protein, soy protein, and casein are ideal for bodybuilding.

Proteins should be consumed as follows:

  • 20-30 grams before workout and immediately after
  • 30-40 grams for 3 times a day for maximizing the results

Creatine is what gives them the resistance to effort which is mandatory for them during training. Creatine is regulating the level of energy in ATP which is responsible for the energy demanded by muscle contractions.

Creatine doses are:

  • 5 grams before training and immediately after
  • 5 grams in the morning of the non-training days

BCAA stands for branched-chained amino acids which are, in fact essential amino acids that cannot be synthesized by the human body by its own. These amino acids have the role of boosting energy, improving the blood circulation, and stimulating muscle growth conferring them with higher strength and resistance.

Multivitamins are good for ectomorphs because they increase their appetite, making them eat more. Besides this aspect, multivitamins are also good for the overall health.

Multivitamins supplements should be consumed in the morning.

Endomorphs are having a lot of fat on the abdomen area. Also, their body form is not ideal for athletic performances, so they have to work a lot to change their body’s shape and become fit.

The best supplements for them are:

  • Caffeine-based supplements
  • Whey Protein
  • Creatine
  • Glutamine
  • BCAA
  • CLA (conjugated linoleic acid)

Caffeine-based supplements should be taken with 30 minutes before training and have the following beneficial effects:

  • Energy boost
  • Alertness and focus improvement
  • Fat burn

Whey protein, as depicted above, increases the blood flow to the muscles and improves strength and force, increasing the protein synthesis in the muscles. Whey protein should be consumed in a 10-20 grams dose with 30 minutes before workout and immediately after training.

Creatine is maintaining the ATP energy source offering longer workout sessions by postponing the fatigue occurrence. Creatine should be consumed in doses of 3-5 grams before and after training.

Glutamine is an amino acid that is commonly encountered in the tissues of the skeletal muscles. It is especially an overall health enhancer but it also has the role of maintaining a healthy immune system.

In bodybuilding, Glutamine is used to support the muscles development and to fasten the recovery period.

BCAA or the branched-chained amino acids are especially recommended for endomorphs, BCAA being also involved in fat burning processes.

CLA or conjugated linoleic acid is is a very popular supplement in sports nutrition and in the health industry. It is a natural fatty acid of the Omega-6 type, which plays a fundamental role in your daily health.

CLA is not produced in the body and as such should be consumed through diet, making a CLA supplement perfect for your needs.

CLA is predominantly found in dairy sources (milk, cheese) and beef, but eating much of these food can be very costly and, in addition, if you eat too much just to get your CLA, you will add unwanted calories to your diet, resulting in fat gain.

Therefore, CLA is recommended for endomorphs because it has the ability to burn fat transforming it into energy and replacing it with muscle mass.

A regular CLA dose is 1-2 grams of CLA, taken 3 times a day, before each main meal of the day.

Since mesomorphs have the ideal body for developing of muscles and athletic figure, they aren’t always recommended to go for supplements. The best thing they can do is to keep a healthy diet rich in nutrients, such as proteins, vitamins, and minerals.

Additionally, when mesomorphs want more from their bodies, they can easily opt for caffeine-base supplements, BCAA supplements, Glutamine, and multivitamins (if for any reason, deficiencies occur).

Mesomorphs should focus on training and diet more than on supplements, in comparison with the other body types.

Mesomorphs should take their supplements only when they feel the need to do it, taking lower doses than people who fall under the other 2 categories of body types, and usually only before and/or after training.

In conclusion

The bottom line is that knowing how your body is like and how is it functioning is necessary and different body types need different bodybuilding supplements and dosages.

In conclusion, when to take bodybuilding supplements is also, besides other factors, influenced by how your body is like. Check out Crazy Bulk, one of the best bodybuilding supplements company.

Amino Acids for Gaining Lean Muscle

Amino acids are organic substances that form proteins, which are part of the muscle composition, along with glycogen, glucose, salts and water. Therefore, the introduction of amino acids into the body forms proteins that enter the muscles composition.

Supplements containing amino acids are highly promoted, claiming they increase muscle mass during weight-carrying exercises and prevent catabolism (destruction) of proteins during endurance exercises. But which are the best amino acids for gaining lean muscles.

What are amino acids?

A simple definition would be that they are the bricks that make up protein molecules.

Proteins are composed of many amino acids. Each cell of our body contains amino acids and 3/4 of the body’s solid mass is made up of protein cells that in turn are made up of amino acids.

All bodybuilders, when they talk about proteins, think of biceps, triceps, quadriceps, and others without considering that the majority of the listed muscles contain a bunch of proteins, including hormones such as insulin, growth hormones, or enzymes.

There are 17 amino acids, which are divided into essential and nonessential.

The 9 essential ones are isoleucine, leucine, valine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, thiozine, tryptophan, and glutamine.

Theoretically, with a diet rich in these eight amino acids, our body will be able to produce all the other amino acids needed for growth, hormones, enzymes, and proteins.

However, bodybuilders also consider other 3 amino acids as essential, namely alanine, arginine and taurine.

Proteins considered complete by nutritionists and nutritionists are in fact incomplete for sportsmen, who need essential amino acid required by the body during the effort in higher quantities.

A protein-rich diet such as that rich in chicken and milk is not always the best way for a correct and balanced amino acid delivery.

Just by filling with powdered proteins that contain amino acids such as glutamine or taurine you will be sure of the success of muscle growth. In a more colloquial language, we can distinguish protein-enhancers from those who are not noble.

In the first case, we consider proteins containing all essential amino acids derived from milk, meat, eggs, fish. There are also poor foods in tryptophan, lysine and methionine, such as wheat and vegetables.

What happens to the amino acids and proteins in our body?

Once the protein is consumed, an enzyme called pepsin is activated in our stomach. Long chain amino acids are broken down into shorter chains, then partial digestion of proteins continues in the intestine, where pancreatic enzymes will once again break down the amino acid chains in the polypeptides.

Finally, the polypeptides will be cleaved one by one by another group of enzymes in dipeptides or tripeptides, which are two or three amino acid chains.

These will be absorbed into the bloodstream and transported to the liver, where one in four will be transformed into a different amino acid, then used to form specific proteins.

Not all amino acids will be retained in the body. This depends on the momentary needs. For the bodybuilders, the main objective is to provide the body with the proteins needed for muscle reconstruction after intense training.

Amino acids for gaining lean muscle

Branch chained amino acids are the most common amino acids in bodybuilding, but they do not always succeed in delivering the wanted results. In certain situations, tryptophan and tyrosine have a direct effect on neurotransmitters.

Consuming amino acids such as glutamine and arginine will increase the risk of inhibiting growth hormone secretion.

Science has not yet ruled on everything that needs to be learned about this type of integration, and all the less about its role in muscle growth.

However, BCAA supplementation is proven as a valid muscle growth method. BCAA is composed of:

  • Isoleucine
  • Leucine
  • Valine

It is similar to valine, both serving as precursors of glutamine and alanine during intense workouts. Valine and isoleucine are the fuel of muscle cells, playing an important role in protein synthesis.

Indeed, an adequate amount of isoleucine in the muscle leads to rapid healing of muscle cell breakage, supporting the growth.

Isoleucine role in bodybuilding is fundamental.

It is definitely the best essential amino acid and determinant in the formation of all types of proteins included in muscle tissue.

Several scientific studies have demonstrated how a few grams of leucine may improve athletic performance.

The most recent study revealed the anabolic and anti-catabolic effects of leucine, comparable to beta-hydroxy-betamethylbutyrate, better known as HMB.

Together with isoleucine and leucine it interferes with protein production in the muscles. During exercises, a huge amount of valine is burned.

Additionally, gaining lean muscle is also helped by:

  • Glutamine
  • Alanine
  • Taurine
  • Arginine

Involved in a wide variety of metabolic processes that regulate cellular volume, as a regulator of the balance between metabolism and catabolism of fat, carbohydrates and proteins.

Specialists recommend to all bodybuilders a daily supplement of L-glutamine in free form, at a dose of 10-12 grams.

It is one of those amino acids that are unleashed and released during intense exercises.

Like glutamine, it plays an important role in regulating cellular volume and helps stabilize blood sugar levels. It is considered indispensable to bodybuilders.

It is suggested an extra consumption of 2 grams at the end of the workout.

It is most present in muscle tissues.

Scientific studies have shown that administering 500mg three times a day can reduce protein loss by 20%.

Taurine is naturally produced in the body due to the union of two amino acids, in the presence of vitamin B6:

  • methionine
  • cysteine

The intensity of exercises and stress can lower the level of taurine in the body. So 1g per day, after training, is a good idea.

L-Arginine is a great amino acid for gaining lean muscle because it is transformed in the body into nitrix oxide (NO).

NO is having a blood vessels dilation effect, increasing the blood flow in the muscles which means that the muscles will get more oxygen and nutrients, supporting muscle growth and postponing fatigue.

The bottom line

Whether you take them from supplements or from diet, the amino acids for gaining lean muscle are truly important in bodybuilding. Additionally, amino acids increase strength, postpone fatigue, are transformed in proteins, and support proteins synthesis. Therefore, for harmonious muscles and a healthy life, amino acids are the best solution.

Is CLA Safe to Use in Weight Loss Diets?

CLA Supplements – Do they Work?

A pretty big portion of the population use supplements, you can read about this in studies. Not necessarily weight loss supplements, but health supplements. You’d be surprised how many individuals, men, and women, young and old, use some type of supplement or multiple.

When asked why, the biggest percentage of people claim that they use the supplement for general health, to stay healthy, for bone health, etc. A decent percentage also use supplements to help them lose weight and as I am sure most of you know, a big percentage of the whole population is overweight and/or obese.

Also as I am sure most of you have noticed, online supplements do not offer clinical evidence for the formula or blend of ingredients that they use. The FDA does not make them offer this information so they don’t do it.

As a result, many dietary supplements use weak formulas, composed of ingredients with unreliable or inconclusive clinical evidence, formulas containing doses that are too low, often lower than those clinically deemed as standard or recommended for healthy adults.

The average individual wouldn’t know what dose is required for CLA for instance, some people don’t even know what CLA is. These manufacturers will claim that the formula works and that their supplements will help you lose weight.

Do not be surprised if you don’t notice anything different in energy levels, metabolism, body fat, composition and so on. CLA, for instance, stands for conjugated linoleic acid and it is a group of fatty acids, essential and polyunsaturated is what they are called.

Your body does not produce them, however, some foods have them. Beef and milk most notably. However, if you plan on using CLA for fat loss, you will require a certain dose and that dose may depend on your weight, fat mass, age, etc.  CLA safflower oil supplement is one of the most used CLA supplements on the market.

Clinically, though, the standard dose of CLA for fat burning is 3.2 grams, more may be used however you’d have to consult a medic, less may be ineffective. Don’t be surprised if some supplements use less.

Even 6 grams of CLA have been used in trials to promote the substantial or significant reduction in body fat.

If you are looking for a supplement to help you with fat loss, I would definitely suggest at least looking into or checking out CLA safflower oil.

I would also suggest consulting with your medic though, not necessarily because it would harm your health, the chances of that happening are slim because it has a good safety record and it is a natural nutrient found in foods and plants, but also because your medic can tell you what dose to use and how regularly to take it and so on.

Also, even though it is safe for healthy adult individuals, it may cause minor side-effects in pregnant or nursing women, those taking other supplements or drugs, etc.

Now, what exactly does CLA stand for, what is it?

CLA stands for conjugated linoleic acid and it is a substance similar to linoleic acid, a mix of naturally occurring polyunsaturated fatty acids which are essential, so your body can’t synthesize them on its own as it does other nutrients.

Conjugated linoleic acid has a lot of studies and trials, on animals and on humans. In small animals, such as rats, it has some of the best results related to fat burning.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for humans and that is the thing, although it can help fat loss, don’t expect to get the same effect that it has on rats. In rats, it reduced up to 60% of their fat which is a lot. In humans, that percentage drops by a lot so do its potency. Also, the dose must be increased a lot from rats to humans.

The dose is very important, you need a lot of CLA to help your body burn more fat and the result may be significant or it may be modest, individual results vary and CLA has been found in some studies to be unreliable.

3-6 grams or even more have been found to work quite well for humans.
I will tell you right now that there is a possibility that some supplements will use very little of it and claim to work.

Definitely, avoid supplements that only have a few milligrams of CLA. You would need 1000 milligrams to have one gram and you would need 3 grams for a standard dose, so anything in milligrams is way too low.

Omega 7 Can Really Help You Lose Weight – Where Can You Find A Omega 7 Weight Loss Supplements?

Omega 7 is a monounsaturated fatty acid, better known for its compound, namely, the palmitoleic acid, is found mostly in sea buckthorn. Also, Omega 7 weight loss supplements are available on the market and offer the purest form of palmitoleic acid

The Omega 7 so far is quite unknown, but I’m sure that soon you will know more about it because the research that is being done shows that it is a super fatty acid full of benefits.

For you to start introducing Omega 7 in your day to day diet I will tell you some of its benefits.

15 Benefits of Omega 7

  1. Improves cardiovascular health from several fronts, on the one hand reduces bad cholesterol and on the other improves elasticity and strengthens the arterial walls, but also reduces the inflammation and viscosity of the arteries.
  2. It favors the circulatory system.
  3. It improves the appearance and softness of the skin, in fact it does much more for our skin because different studies confirm that omega 7 acid is one of the skin’s components. It also stimulates the production of collagen, another component of the skin. It also improves the condition of the skin and promotes the formation of collagen. The weaker the collagen the more you will notice the cellulite and vice versa, the stronger the less you notice.
  4. The omega 7 is a perfect ally in the fight against cellulite, since many of the benefits of this fatty acid directly affect cellulite. It has anti-inflammatory action, which improves the condition of cellulite. Especially it allows to treat the painful cellulitis that causes edema.
  5. It helps treat skin diseases such as dermatitis, eczema, ulcers, and so on.
  6. It is a powerful antioxidant that protects us from aging and from many diseases.
  7. It is very rich in vitamin C, in fact it contains 20 times more vitamin C than an orange and 10 times more than the kiwi.
  8. It also has vitamins A, E, B1 and K and minerals such as iron, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium.
  9. It has anti-inflammatory action.
  10. It protects us from environmental stress, that is, the stress that causes a stimulus from our environment and breaks our equilibrium, for example the horn of a car or being late for an appointment, but there are other things that cause it and not are as visible as artificial radiations.
  11. It favors the detoxification of the liver cells.
  12. Ideal in cases of dry mucous membranes and eyes.
  13. Allied to fight against obesity.
  14. Iron deficiency plays a key role in the appearance of cellulite and makes its elimination difficult. So the omega 7 is a good ally.
  15. And if this were not enough, it improves the circulatory system and helps in weight control. Super important to improve the condition of cellulite.

Is Omega 7 recommended for other diseases?

It is recommended for cancer patients to take Omega 7 to counteract the effects of radiotherapy and chemo.

It is also recommended to patients with cirrhosis because the Omega 7 has the ability to detoxify liver cells.

Where can I find Omega 7?

Its main source is sea buckthorn, in fact almost all supplements are made from sea buckthorn oil.

But you can also find it in foods such as butter, avocado, olive oil, macadamia nuts, monkfish liver, some types of cheese such as Gouda, Parmesan, or blue or whale fat.

I personally prefer to take it in the form of a nutritional supplement.

You may have already noticed that many of the sources of Omega 7 are very caloric or difficult to access such as the blue whale fat.

Where Can You Find A Omega 7 Weight Loss Supplements?

Taking it as a supplement is very convenient, you only have to take 2 capsules a day. You take one in the morning and one in the evening. You can try Ultra Omega Burn.

Ultra Omega Burn seems trustworthy for me and is made of the purest form of Omega 7 palmitoleic acid.

Even more, Ultra Omega Burn is not costly and is accessible with ease on its official site.

  • 1 bottle – $49.95 (it covers for 1 month cure)
  • 3 bottles – $119.95 (they cover for 3 months cure)
